The Inspire Health and Wellbeing Day was mesmerising and informative!

Posted on May 03, 2017

Inspire recently held a Health and Wellbeing day for local businesses and their employees.  The event was funded by the Public Health Agency via Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.

The day itself was well attended, with The Inspire Conference Room jam packed full of exhibitors and local business owners along with their employees.  Our compere for the day was Stephen Thompson, both an Inspire tenant and representative of Sports Chaplaincy who were exhibiting on the day.

Events kicked off at 3pm when we heard from Turan from Feel Good Hypnosis on how we can use hypnosis to conquer our fears and anxieties.  He even gave us a few live demonstrations.  We were indeed mesmerised by the effect he had on those he hypnotised!

Then we heard from Vivien, an Inspire tenant, who is CEO of Hydro-Ease Hydro-Ease offer the only 2 float cabins in the whole of Ireland!  Flotation can assist in the treatment of anxiety, emotional issues, muscular pain and sleeping difficulties to name but a few!

Everyone enjoyed a healthy hot fork supper from The Bean Café most people returning for seconds (and thirds!)

Our evening session kicked off with a fascinating presentation from Helen Allen from House of Colour.  We learned how to dress for success in Business.  For men, A “business” or “business dress” code means one thing for men: matched suits. If an invitation has specifically requested business attire, it’s best to err on the side of formality and wear a dark, solid colored or pinstriped suit.  Pair it with a white dress shirt, a conservative tie, and black leather oxfords, and you’re — no pun intended — in business. As a business woman, your attire should speak of your career and profession. Your attire must speak good of you and it also has to represent you well. The right clothes for the right business situation sends an important message. As a woman in business, you have to appreciate those clothes, colors and style that express your personal brand just like your business cards or your website.

Last but by no means least we heard from Lynn McCullough from The Healing Works.  Lynn stressed the importance of a balanced lifestyle - exercise, nutrition and sleep all playing pivotal roles.  She suggested we introduce one change at a time.  We should focus on eating more natural, non-processed foods and not to be afraid of "good fats" such as coconut oils, olive oil and butter from grass fed cows.  She gave each attendee recipe cards and let them sample her nutritious smoothies.  Ive included one of these below for those of you who couldn't attend on the day!
