Alan Wilson is a Senior Corporate Banking Manager at Danske Bank UK with over 13 years of experience in Industry. After graduating with a degree in Engineering and having completed an internship in London with RBS, he decided to take the financial route in his career. Enrolling into a graduate programme with RBS whilst completing his chartered accountancy allowed him to enter the industry with strong stance. 

Alan began his career in Banking at the beginning of the first financial crisis in 2008, and feels that joining at that time “was a really good learning experience and provided good grounding for me, it’s given me a good base to move up the ranks at quite a fast pace”. After working with Ulster Bank for the first 10 years of his career, he later joined Danske Bank, “It’s been great. It’s a very different organisation as its UK presence is Northern Ireland which is very different to what Great Britain banks would have, so it’s been refreshing in that perspective”. 

Having completed the Boardroom Apprentice programme, Alan gained an insight into the structure of boardrooms, how they work and the role they play. “After the programme, I was eager to get involved in formally joining a board, so the timing of Inspire worked well”. Having worked in a customer facing role at Danske Bank, Alan explained how the key highlight in his career is helping different businesses across Northern Ireland grow and expand, providing support in challenging situations. “I feel that this is something I can replicate with Inspire, with the businesses that they are supporting”. Alan explained how he felt that joining the board at Inspire was an opportunity for him to learn more about the Business Park, goals and objectives “I am confident that I am able to contribute to that in a meaningful way”.
